Skulduggery Pleasant, Derek Landy

I’ve been meaning to review this book, but I never actually got round to it. The blurb is already a good invitation to what may be the funniest detective book ever:
Meet Skulduggery Pleasant: wise cracking detective, powerful magician, sworn enemy of evil. Oh yes. And dead.
As the name suggests, Skulduggery Pleasant is a skeleton detective, and, or so he says, he’s rather good at it. But the story doesn’t start with him; it starts with a girl named Stephanie Edgley. She’s a normal girl, leading a normal life, until her uncle dies mysteriously and leaves his whole estate to her.
Once inside ‘her’ estate, she’s attacked, and is saved only by Skulduggery Pleasant, who throws a fireball at the attacker (more on that if you read the book). And so, they are bonded forever.
A very good book, with an awesome website (www.skulduggerypleasant.com); a book which deserves an 8/10 star rating.
Oh and sorry about the pic couldn’t find one without the white bits.
